Advantages and disadvantages of aluminum wire motors
Aluminum wire motors have significant advantages such as low cost and light weight, and are widely used in small and medium-sized motor products that are cost-sensitive and have relatively moderate performance requirements. As the density of aluminum is about 30% of copper, under the same conductive cross-sectional area, the overall weight of the aluminum wire motor winding is lighter, which is conducive to the lightweight design of the whole machine; at the same time, the price of aluminum is much lower than that of copper, which can effectively reduce the procurement cost of raw materials and enhance the market competitiveness of products. In addition, the progress of modern process technology has significantly improved the oxidation resistance and connection reliability of aluminum wire. With the special welding process and terminal treatment technology, the electrical stability of long-term operation can be guaranteed. However, aluminum wire motors also have certain limitations. Its resistivity is about 1.6 times that of copper, and its conductivity is relatively weak under the same specification, resulting in slightly higher winding temperature rise and slightly lower efficiency than copper wire motors of the same specification during full load operation. At the same time, aluminum is inferior to copper in ductility and creep resistance, and the terminal crimping part is prone to loosening risk under high temperature and high stress conditions. Therefore, higher requirements are put forward for terminal structure design, crimping process and insulation protection. In addition, the performance margin and life performance of aluminum wire motors in high frequency, high dynamic response or long-term heavy-duty operation scenarios are usually not as good as high-quality copper wire motors. In summary, aluminum wire motors are the preferred solution that takes into account both economy and practicality, and are especially suitable for mass production and cost-oriented applications; while industrial or high-end applications that have higher requirements for energy efficiency levels, reliability and service life In scenarios, it is recommended to give priority to copper wire motors. Users can according to the specific use of the environment, performance indicators and budget planning, scientific assessment and reasonable selection.
